What is EMDR?Amy Shore, MA, LMFT
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been heavily researched and proven to be an effective treatment for trauma. EMDR therapy is an eight-phase treatment, in which eye movements or other bilateral stimulation are used. Internal associations arise and the client begins to process the memory and feelings. EMDR allows people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of traumatic life experiences.
